![]() ![]() Like the other European destroyers, she also has a Repair Party. In addition to the exceptional main battery, Småland also has access to Surveillance Radar, as well as an unusual Emergency Engine Power consumable with a short duration but a strong speed increase. Unlike Halland, Småland lacks access to Defensive AA Fire, and while her anti-aircraft defenses are strong for a destroyer, she is more vulnerable to aircraft carriers than her sister. The firing range is somewhat limited and the ballistics are mediocre at best, but the damage output is very high and she is exceptionally good at starting fires. On the other hand, Småland's main battery is one of the strongest of any destroyer in the game. Her torpedo armament (an unusual arrangement of one 5-tube launcher and one 3-tube) is significantly weaker than Halland's as they are loaded with stock Östergötland torpedoes. Whereas Halland is a well-rounded generalist ship centered around its torpedoes, Småland is far more specialized in her role, and relies much more on her guns. Most importantly, Småland has access to Surveillance Radar. If the team ain't on board, it's effectiveness is severely reduced.Småland is a Tier X European premium destroyer - a sister ship to tech tree Halland, but with some significant differences. Hence, radar on Missouri takes TEAM PLAY. Although radar pens land masses, a Missouri hiding behind land to radar spot a DD pretty much takes itself out of the ability to take out that DD, or in many cases anybody else. But there is a definite learning curve on how and when to use its radar.Īlso keep in mind that radar takes the spotter slot, so a Missouri does not have spotter plane. I've since pushed my Missouri into the 50s. Many games play out where I either never get to fire it up, or do so because I've still got all the charges and pop it for a serendipitous hit. Although I play the radar slant with Missouri, it's often NOT the primary mode of my deployment. It ain't a simple thing to push up in a BB that can get detected by DDs outside radar range, and subsequently focused and deleted by the rest of the reds. I realized I was pushing too hard BECAUSE I had radar. Ironically, as a pushy BB player, my initial rate with Missouri was 45%.worse than my Iowa. I think it is a good thing on a BB, it rewards BB players that actually push up. ![]()
